Apartment Review for Christy Estates Suites - Corpus Christi, TX

In early July I was searching for housing on apartmentguide.com and came across a Christy Estates ad for "a low $399". When I called, the woman told me that after utilities are included the price per month is higher than actually advertised (this should have been a red flag for me). Even still, compared to the other apts, the square footage was larger. One of the days I went to turn in app fee & deposit, the woman informed me of a coupon (on the back of an HEB receipt) for a free months rent that I could use. So of course, I ran out and clipped one and returned it. The apartment head explained to me several times that a move-in for me would only cost $175 (deposit). Great, I thought... Over the course of the month I had been in contact with the same woman for several reasons...I wanted to know about the mail situation, the move-in date landed on a Sunday, and suggestions for electric provider. About 10 days prior to move-in, I contacted her about moving in a week later since I would be out of town. I informed her that if it was a problem, then we could move foward with the current move-in date. It was then that she checked a my paperwork, and informed me that she had been told "yesterday" that she couldn't honor both the coupon (THAT SHE HERSELF SUGGESTED) & their "$399 Special". That she could only offer either the coupon or the "Special" (current rate for that apt was appx $550). While talking to her I went online to look at the way the ad was written, and nowhere did it mention that it was a "special" or that it could not be combined with any other offers. I also read to her what the coupon said (it was very generic), and again, nowhere on the coupon did it mention that it could not be combined with any other offer. Sensing that I was very upset and eager to get me off the phone, she simply said, "You're right it is my fault, but if you don't like it, I can give you your deposit back." My deposit back...just like that??? I waited 3 weeks to move in and about to go on a weeks vacation, and she's unwilling to do honor a commitment? I tried to make contact her supervisor several times throughout the day, but I was unsuccessful. The following day I called back asking for some sort of resolution. At that point, I was willing to meet them halfway...maybe a 1/2 off (instead of full) first month rent and the "special". The supervisor came to the phone and proceded to tell me that if I didn't like the situation that she would be happy to refund my deposit. I asked if we could both meet halfway, that I would be willing to pay 1/2 of the first months rent. Her responses were very unprofessional, saying things like, "You don't call the shots here, I do." and "If you don't like it, bring it to the table." "Bring it to the table"...I don't even know what that means!?! All in all, my experience here was an absolute mightmare. And, my advise to anyone considering leasing here...DON'T!
