Apartment Review
Great Place to Live...despite what it looks like

When I first came across Harper's Corner...I cringed. Its appearance is nothing to be impressed by. It looks poorly made and I believe was made in 1976 (I might be wrong). Anyway, I decided to come in and take a look around because I was on a budget and didn't want to spend too much in rent. Well, the staff was very friendly when I first met them and I can honestly say everyone at Harper's Corner (office staff to the maintenance) was always nice. Despite its appearance, I decided to rent with them as they payed for cable, trash, and hot water. At the end of the month, I would only pay for water (no more than 28 bucks for 1 person) and my own electricity. I can't remember how much square footage I had but my apartment was spacious compared to all of the other apartments I looked at in Corpus. Seriously, some apartment complexes were charging 600+ for less than 600 square feet and these places weren't necessarily better than Harper's Corner. I will begin with my critique of the grounds. They're okay but once again...nothing to write home about. There are two pools and a tennis court. I never used either. There is also an athletic room...which I didn't use. I never noticed dog poop on the grounds when I walked around even though I did see people walking their dogs all the time. There is construction still going around the apartment complex so sometimes you would have to use the gate entrance as an exit. Actually, I did this the entire time I lived there (a year). The security gate has been broken for over a year. I didn't mind though because I still felt safe in my apartment (and I lived alone). When I came across other residents, they were always nice and said good morning and things like that. There is a laundry mat on site which is clean and working. I also think parking was fine. I almost always got a spot near my apartment...except when I got home really late. There is supposed to be a security guard on site...I never needed him. My apartment was really nice but did have a few minor problems. One big problems was the drainage of the tub. It took forever for the water to drain out of the tub...and I had to take quick showers or my tub would fill up with water while I was taking my shower. Also, my garbage disposal never seemed to work even though the maintenance men would fix it the day I made the work order. After being fixed, it would break 30 seconds later (literally, I timed it). I hardly used it so that didn't bother me too much. The walls aren't soundproof. I did hear my neighbors yelling at their kids and playing Rhianna's latest single at the time. It wasn't frequent enough or loud enough to bother me though. I could never hear conversations or anyone's television...so it wasn't that bad. I had tons of storage space and my closet was super AWESOME! Some apartments claim to have a walk-in closet...and it is tiny. This closet was like a little room. I LOVED it. I finally had room for all of my clothes and shoes. Did I mention that they give FREE CABLE!?! Man I really liked that apartment. I had to move out when my lease was up because of my job. Moving out was a breeze. Also, once again I want to say how nice everyone was. The staff ALWAYS said hello as did the maintenance. If someone were to ask me..."Should I move there?" I'd say, "Heck yeah. It's cheap, safe, and comfortable." Really, you're paying for less than what you're getting.
